Mama Today

by Lori Ann

Listening to Tigger’s favorite new musician, Frances England, playing via Pandora radio. Seeing perfect skies, feeling a pleasant breeze, from the open living room window. Smelling apple salsa boiling in the rice cooker. Tasting sticky-with-fruit fingers as I kiss Tigger’s hands.

Thankful to be a Mama today.

What Mama moments did you hear, see, feel, smell, and taste this week?

  1. This is a cool idea. 🙂 I’ll have to do it some time (when I’m not dead on my feet from a crazy day).

What a neat idea! Makes me wish I were a mom 😉

  3. Today, I heard the cries of my oldest child, I saw the pain in his eyes. I felt his hands tighten around mine as the doctors inspected his swollen foot. I smelled his strawberry shampoo as he buried his head in my chest, and I tasted the salt of his tears when I kissed his sweet face.

I thought this was going to be hard, as I’ve had a really rough day. But really, both the beautiful moments and the hard-to-bear remind me of what it means to be Mama. I don’t often get to be that source of comfort to my four-year old. After all, he’s a “big boy.” But I love to know that he feels no shame in needing me. Because I need him, too.

  4. Beautiful post, and a lovely idea!
